View comparison of properties for soft magnetic alloys > ASTM A801 – Hiperco 50 1 Consisting of 49% Cobalt, 49% Iron, and 2% Vanadium Hiperco 50 has the highest magnetic saturation of any commercial alloy, and greater mechanical strength than other soft magnetic alloys.
Soft magnetic properties,, high magnetic permeability, low coercive force (H c) and low residual induction (B r), depend strongly on alloy chemistry, particularly impurities such as carbon, sulfur and nonmetallic inclusions, and stresses due to cold working. Magnetic permeability decreases and the coercive force increases.
The magnetic properties of nickel nanoparticles are depicted in Figure 5. The saturated magnetization (Ms) is equal to emug−1 (1emug−1 = 1 Am2∙kg−1), which is lower than the values of bulk nickel (55 Oe) (1 Oe = Am−2). The bulk coercivity field (H c) of nickel particles is Oe, which is around Oe for the nanoparticles.
The asplated hardness of Midphosphorus electroless nickel is approximately 5456 Rc and can be heat treated to 6568 Rc for a more wear resistant finish. This coating is also slightly magnetic. UNIFORMITY. This coating enjoys the same uniform deposit properties as our HighPhosphorus EN.
It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it theoretically nonmagnetic. 304 stainless steel contains chromium (min. 18%), and nickel (min. 8%). It is an austenite steel and is only slightly responsive to magnetic fields.

Electroless NickelPhosphorus Plating. The properties of the coatings depend on the phosphorus content. The coatings with low phosphorus content are crystalline and hard, so they have a high ware resistance. On the other hand, the high phosphorus content coatings are amorphous and have a high corrosion resistance.
We perform a variety of surface finishing: Electroless (Chemical) NickelPhosphorus, Electroless (Chemical) NickelPhosphorusTeflon, ZincNickel Plating, Electrolytic Nickel Plating, GoldCobalt Plating, Tin Plating, Silver Plating, Copper Plating, Anodizing, Chemical Conversion Coating on Aluminium and Passivation of Corrosion Resistant Steels.
Properties of nickel crucibles Nickel Commercially pure or lowalloy nickel has characteristics that are useful in several fields, notably chemical processing. Nickel is highly resistant to various reducing chemicals and is unexcelled in resistance to caustic alkalis. Nickel 201 is a commercially pure nickel with high thermal conductivity ...

Standard Specification for Autocatalytic (Electroless) NickelPhosphorus Coatings on Metal. The chemical and physical properties of the deposit vary primarily with its phosphorus content and subsequent heat treatment. The chemical makeup of the plating solution and the use of the solution can affect the porosity and corrosion resistance of the deposit. For more details, see ASTM STP 265 (1)2 .
Effect of annealing on magnetic properties and microstructure of electroless nickelcopperphosphorus alloy deposits Authors: Hur, KangHeon ; Jeong, JaeHan ; Lee, Dong Nyung
We report the discovery of unintentional phosphorus (P) doping when trinoctylphosphine (TOP) ligands are used in Ni nanoparticle synthesis, which is the most common method for monodisperse Ni nanoparticle synthesis. The nanoparticles appear pure facecentered cubic (fcc) Ni in Xray diffraction despite the surprisingly high level (5 atomic %) of P.
It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it nonmagnetic. So the answer is yes, the magnetic properties of stainless steel are very dependent on the elements added into the alloy, and specifically the addition of nickel can change the structure from magnetic to nonmagnetic.
Electroless nickel± phosphorus deposits are produced by the autocatalytic electrochemical reduction of nickel ion from the plating electroless plating process that led to the practical application of thesedepositswasdevelopedbyBrennerandRiddellin 1946, and the ® rst patent for it .
The magnetic properties indicates that as Ni content increases the Ms, Mr, Hc and Mr/Ms decreases this is due the lower magnetic moment of nickel. Also magnetic properties show the temperature dependent behavior. The values of Ms, Mr, Hc and Mr/Ms decreases with temperature.
The three most required properties in the application of electroless nickel coatings are wear protection, corrosion resistance and contour accuracy. This is followed by solderability, good friction characteristics, high ductility and certain magnetic properties. Often several of the properties listed are required at the same time.
